Visiting Artist Lecturer - Playmaking

This module focusses on developing the writer’s voice through the creation of an excerpt of an original drama. Students will explore the main building blocks of a play, from character and dialogue to story and structure, will spend time thinking about the ways that theatrical stories work, and will put these components and ideas into practice through their own creative writing.
Mentor - Writing for Theatre
This course for 16–21-year-olds delivered online via Zoom. The aim of the course is to develop the practical tools and skills to turn ideas into theatre. The course is supported by playwright Guleraana Mir. Through writing exercises, games and creative tasks participants find out how to create structure, character and dialogue and gain an understanding of the playwriting process. Additionally participants will also be supported throughout the course by an established playwright-mentor who will run smaller group sessions where they can read work out loud, receive feedback and put their skills into practice.
Tutor - Young Company Writers
The Young Company Writers work reading, analysing and writing plays. They will be given exercises, tasks and support to help them develop a full length play.
Visiting Artist Lecturer - Pilot Project
The Pilot Project module is focussed on supporting 3rd year BA (Hons)Theatre and Performance students to create their final projects for the year. This culminates in a series of performances across Leeds.
