The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun Abid Hussain will attend the launch of Feversham College’s fourth ‘First Story’ anthology.
The students of Feversham have been working on their anthology titled Spilt Ink since early autumn last year. The students who participated in ‘First Story’ have been attending creative writing workshops on a weekly basis.
The programme encourages students to gain confidence, awareness and self-esteem as well as improving their writing. The students worked with acclaimed writers including poet, Malika Booker, and playwright, Zodwa Nyoni.
The Lord Mayor will join the celebration at the event in the Banqueting Hall in City Hall on 24 July. The launch will include readings from the students as well as an overview of the highlights of the fourth year of ‘First Story’ at Feversham College and motivational words from Malika Booker and Zodwa Nyoni.
Aysha, a student in Year Seven said, “First Story has boosted my confidence and allowed me to express my own opinions clearly.”
Ikraa, in her fourth year of ‘First Story’, explained how participating has made her feel “more confident” not only in her writing but also “speaking in front of others.”
There will be opportunities for students to sign books, sell their book to those in attendance and enjoy refreshments with their family and friends to celebrate
